Does Honey Lighten Skin?

Honey For Skin lightening

Believe it or not, honey is a great skin lightener. The reason? It’s produced by a combination of plant matter, enzyme activity, and bacteria. Put these all together and you have a potent skincare ingredient. Honey has many benefits for your skin. It can treat acne as well as autoimmune conditions like psoriasis and eczema.

Raw honey works by balancing bacteria on your skin making it an effective acne treatment.  A study made in 2008 proves honey could even improve skin bacteria 100 fold.

Honey also increases your skin cell’s healing and reduces inflammation. This makes it great for treating eczema. Some grades of honey are proven to be so effective in the healing process, doctors are now using it in their clinics.

Another benefit is it can exfoliate your skin naturally, giving your skin an even healthy glow.

How to Lighten Skin With Honey (Step By Step)

As I mentioned previously, you will learn the exact steps in this article. Here is exactly how to lighten your skin with honey.

Before getting started, it is important to only use unpasteurized honey. The reason is its healthy bacteria will help with inflammation and redness while activating your immune system.

If you have a skin condition, you can apply honey to infected areas or apply it to your face using a face mask. Here is exactly what to do:

  1. Mix raw honey with pure cinnamon to make a paste. Warm the mixture slightly.
  2. Perform a patch test by applying the mixture to your arm. It is important to do this to make sure that you don’t have an allergic reaction to the mixture.
  3. Apply the mixture to any areas you want to treat or apply the mixture to your face using a facial mask.
  4. Leave the mixture on your skin for 10 minutes
  5. Using warm water, rinse the mixture off and dry your skin gently.

If you want to use honey to exfoliate your skin:

  1.  Clean your face.
  2. Mix unpasteurized honey with pure water to slightly thin the honey down
  3. Apply the honey to your face.
  4. Wait for 10 minutes.
  5. Rinse the mixture off.

Shea Butter For Skin Lightening

Shea Butter For Skin

Shea butter is one of the best known and best-documented skin lightening ingredients. You can find this potent ingredient in many skin lightening products.

Shea butter includes many skin lightening ingredients. Included are vitamin A, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties of fatty acids.

Can I use Lemon Juice to Lighten Skin?

Natural Ingredients For Skin Lightening

Great news. You can use lemon juice to lighten your skin. This is due to the high concentration of vitamin C, which is a powerful antioxidant. This means a humble lemon can be used to treat acne damage, dark spots, freckles and other forms of hyperpigmentation.

The vitamin C in lemon juice lightens skin by reducing melanin. Melanin is a pigment that gives your skin, eyes, and hair its color. This has been clinically tested. Melanin in our skin, however, has an important role to play in protecting us from the sun’s UV rays. Unfortunately, our skin sometimes produces too much melanin, resulting in dark spots. These dark spots can be treated with lemon juice.

How to Lighten Skin With Fresh Lemons

Before starting, you need to create a lemon and milk mixture. It is important to squeeze the juice out of fresh lemons, rather than use bottled lemon juice. This is because bottled lemon juice is often diluted. Also, preservatives are added to make the juice last longer.

Squeeze the juice of half a lemon and mix it with an equal amount of milk. This will cause the milk to curdle. The lactic acid in the milk will help exfoliate your skin and help with cell regrowth. The milk will also increase water retention in your skin. This will give you softer skin and will result in the lemon juice penetrating deeper into your skin.

Once you have the mixture ready:

  1. Test the mixture on a small area of your skin in case of an allergic reaction
  2. Soak a sponge in the mixture
  3. Using a circular motion, massage the mixture into your skin
  4. Apply the mixture for approximately 3 minutes
  5. Rinse the mixture off your skin with water and pat your skin dry
  6. If you are applying the mixture to your face, after massaging it into your skin, leave it for 10 minutes before patting it dry
  7. If the lemon juice drys your skin out, apply a moisturizer
  8. Apply the mixture no more than 3 times a week

Don’t forget to use sunscreen after applying the mixture. The reason is lemon juice will cause your skin to be more photosensitive. It is also important to avoid using lemon juice if you have a skin injury. Avoid getting lemon juice in your eyes.

Does Coconut Oil Lighten Skin?

Wondering if coconut oil lightens skin? The answer is yes. Coconut oil benefits your skin in many ways. It can reduce inflammation, prevent infections and protect your skin from free radical damage.

Coconut oil is most beneficial for certain skin types. If you have dry skin or normal skin, coconut oil is a great option for you. Due to its vitamin F and lauric acid, coconut oil will help hydrate and protect your skin, locking the moisture in.

To get the most from this natural moisturizer, it is important to use unrefined organic coconut oil. Look for the words virgin or extra virgin on the label. Avoid liquid coconut oil as the liquid oil is formulated for cooking and might be too harsh for your skin.

How to use coconut oil as a night cream.

  1. Rub a tablespoon of coconut oil between your hands resulting in a light smooth liquid.
  2. Rub the oil onto your neck and face. The oil can be used on other dry areas of your body including your chest.
  3. Remove any remaining residue. This can be done with a soft tissue.
  4. Avoid getting the oil in your eyes. It is not harmful, but it will make your vision blurry.

How to Lighten Skin With Milk

Did you know Cleopatra used to bathe in milk for its skin benefits? The question is, is can you use milk skin lightening? Many bloggers swear by its lightening properties. The reason is the lactic acid in milk works to reduce skin pigmentation. The great news is you can use any cow’s or goat’s milk for lightening. This can be achieved by applying the milk to the areas you want to affect. Here are some steps to achieving lighter skin with milk:

  1. Make sure your skin is clean and dry.
  2. Warm the milk in a bowl using a microwave.
  3. Soak a washcloth in the milk. Squeeze out the cloth so that it is saturated but not dripping.
  4. Massage the milk into the area you want to be lightened. When the washcloth runs out of milk, replenish its supply by dipping it into the bowl.

If you apply the milk daily, lightening should take approximately three weeks. Once you have achieved the lightening you desire, you should still apply milk to your skin at least twice per week. Doing this will help you maintain your new found lightened skin.

Milk has other benefits for your skin. It is packed with vitamin B, calcium and other powerful antioxidants. This means it will keep your skin moisturized while helping to treat free radical damage.

Yogurt For Skin Lightening

Surprisingly, yogurt has been used to lighten skin for centuries. Like milk, yogurt contains lactic acid, which is a mild skin lightener. It will also help remove dead skin, tighten your pores and help nourish your skin. Its concentration of vitamin B12 has been proven to lighten skin and encourage healthy cell growth. Using yogurt to lighten your skin couldn’t be easier:

  1. Massage yogurt into your skin daily
  2. Rinse it off with warm water

Aloe Vera for Skin Lightening

Aloe vera has been used to treat a number of skin conditions for hundreds of years. It works by soothing wounds and skin irritations. Many people use it to treat acne scars, which are the result of damaged pores. They appear as discolorations on the skin, or raised or depressed areas of the skin.

By boosting your body’s response to inflammation, aloe vera is able to reduce scars from forming. Aloe vera is also able to increase your body’s production of elastin and collagen fibers. This results in two benefits.

  1. Reduction in the appearance of scars
  2. Reduction in the signs of aging

Aloe vera has been proven to help reduce hyperpigmentation in acne scars. This is due to a compound called aloesin. Aloesin helps reduce the overproduction of melanin making acne scars more less noticeable.

If you want to use aloe vera to lighten your acne scars here are the steps:

  1. Make sure the aloe vera you buy is fragrance-free and noncomedogenic
  2. Clean your face with a cleanser and water
  3. Apply the aloe vera to the areas you wish to treat making sure to also cover the areas around the damaged skin you are treating
  4. After half an hour, wash the aloe vera off with water
  5. Repeat this twice a day

Vitamins For Skin Lightening

Believe it or not, your skin needs nutrients to be healthy. When you get the right nutrients in your diet, you are feeding your skin from the inside. If you want your skin to have a healthy glow, make sure to get the right vitamins, antioxidants, and minerals in your diet. You can also feed your skin from the outside. Just use quality skincare products that include antioxidants, vitamins, and other skin-boosting nutrients.

According to Dr. Anita Sturnham, ‘if the ingredients in your products sound good enough to eat or drink, then they are likely to be good choices for your skin’.

Here are some of the most important nutrients for healthy skin:

  1. Moisturize affected areas regularly. This will help your skin heal faster, helping your dark spots fade faster

How to Get Rid of Scars Naturally

Are scars standing in the way of even skin tone? Have no fear, there are many natural remedies. Before explaining the remedies it is first important to understand what scars are.

Scars are part of your skin’s natural healing process. When the second layer of skin is damaged, your skin produces a protein called collagen. Collagen fibers simply repair the damage often resulting in a scar. The sad truth is there is no known way to make a scar go away completely. Scars, however, will fade over time.

If you want to speed up the process, you can try many of the natural remedies mentioned in this article. Here are some great options:

Honey

Cover your scar with honey and leave it overnight. Of course, don’t forget to cover it with a bandage before you go to bed. Wash it off first thing in the morning. This can be part of your nightly routine.

Lemon Juice

Squeeze a fresh lemon onto your scar, gently rubbing the scar with the fleshy part of the lemon. Leave the juice on the scar for around ten minutes, and then rinse it off. This should be done daily.

Coconut Oil

Warm a small amount of coconut oil, so that it becomes a liquid. Massage the oil into your scar and leave it for about an hour. This can be done several times a day.

Vitamin E

Squeeze a vitamin E capsule over your scar. Massage the oil into the scar. Wash the oil off after around 20 minutes. This can be repeated several times a day.

Conclusion

You can even skin tone without using dangerous chemicals. Whether you have hyperpigmentation or melasma, there is a natural remedy for you. The best part is you won’t find any hydroquinone or mercury in any of them!
